Harriet Glenton:
Born in Liverpool to Henry Glenton (1796 – 1857) and Anna Maria Jeffers (1800 – 1865), Harriet was Christened on 13 August 1828 at St Peter’s Church, Liverpool.
In the Census for 1841, Harriet was living at St Joseph's Place, Islington, Liverpool, aged 13, with her father Henry (45), mother ‘Hannah' (35 disputed), and siblings Willoughby (10), John (6) and Eliza (3).
By 1851, she was living aged 23 as a dressmaker with her parents Henry (54), Anna Maria (49), and siblings Benjamin Wm (20) [ this is the Willoughby from 1841], John Jeffers (15), Eliza (5) and two visitors.
A year later, on 5 July 1852, Harriet married Richard Hindley (1829 – 1900) at St Mark’s Church, Liverpool.By the 1871 Census, she was living at 40 Penton Street, West Derby, aged 43, with her husband Richard (42), and children Anna M Hindley (18), Richard Henry Hindley (15), Eliza Ann Hindley (8), and James Wilson Kelsall Hindley (3).
Harriet died at 8 Seldon Street, Liverpool, aged 52. She was buried on 4 August 1880, in section B right, grave 118 of Toxteth Park Cemetery on Smithdown Road, Liverpool.
She shares the grave with her mother, daughter Harriet Elizabeth Ann Caroline Hindley, daughter Betsey Ann Hindley, husband, and daughter Eliza Ann Hindley (Martin).
The large upright sandstone stone has a small pointed top with curved shoulders. It states:"In memory of Harriet E A C second daughter of Richard Hindley, who departed this life July 21st 1858 aged 2 years and 11 months. Also Betsy Ann, died November 27th 1866, aged 16 months. Also Anna Maria Glenton, grandmother of the above children, died 5th May 1865, aged 63. Also Harriet wife of Richd Hindley, and mother of the above children died 1st August 1880 aged 52. Also the above Richard Hindley, who died 21st April 1900 aged 70 years. Also Eliza Ann Martin, daughter of the above, died 14th January 1938, aged 75 years."
