John Churchill - the stepfather of my 3 x great grandmother Ann Jenvey Lockyer

John Churchill  1821 – after 1891
Second husband of 4 x great grandmother

Born in 1821 in Warminster, Wiltshire to John Churchill and his wife Sarah, he was Christened in Warminster on 7 January 1821.
In 1848, the baker and beer retailer became the second husband of Sophia Jenvey (1806 – 1881/91), and thus the step father of Ann Jenvey Lockyer (1835 – 1920).
In the 1841 Census, John was living on a farm at Norton Bavent, Wiltshire, as a labourer.
By the 1851 Census, John was 30 years old, living as a baker and beerhouse keeper, at 13 Castle Place, Southampton, with his wife Sophia Churchill aged 35 (disputed), Elizabeth Lockyer (‘daughter' aged 16), George Lockyer (‘son' aged 10, scholar) and Helen Churchill (daughter aged 2).
By 1861, he was living aged 40 at 1 Castle Gardens, Southampton, as a baker and beer retailer, with wife Sophia (aged 47 – disputed) and daughters Helen (12) and Alice (9).
By 1881, he was 60, and living as a retired baker at 3 Providence Street, Millbrook, Hampshire with his wife Sophia (70 – disputed) and Elizabeth Short, their 14 year old domestic servant.
By 1891, Sophia had died, and John, now 70, was boarding at 20 Nelson Road, Millbrook with William Holley (33), Emily Holley (22) and their daughter Helen Holley (6 months).
John died at some point after this Census, date unknown.
